Santa Clara County Getting to Zero is a multi-sector collaborative initiative that strives for zero new HIV infections, zero HIV-related deaths, and zero HIV-related stigma and discrimination in Santa Clara County.  

Getting to Zero collaborates with community partners to guide county-wide service coordination, implement local guidance and continued program growth. Our program committees include:

Mission
We will meet the goals of zero HIV-related stigma, zero new HIV infections, and zero HIV-related deaths while eliminating health disparities in the County of Santa Clara through collaborative and equitable interventions.

Services

  • Academic detailing 
    • Clinical Health Education (Interactive educational outreach to physicians and health care professionals to provide unbiased, non-commercial, evidence-based information about medications or particular health topics with the goal of improving patient care)
    • Clinical trainings or other (training that provides providers and healthcare staff guidance on best clinical practices) 
  • Technical assistance related to STI/HIV screening, testing, treatment and clinical care practices.
  • Presentations & Workshops 

    • Medically-accurate, comprehensive, and equity-based education and training services for our entire community

Program Committees 

Governance Team

The Governance Team is the governing body of the Getting to Zero program. It comprises of leaders representing a range of community organizations within the County and is responsible for helping set the strategic direction of the initiative and oversee and track program activities and services. The governance team meetings take place once every other month on the fourth Thursday from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m.  for one hour via Zoom.

Youth and Young Adult Advisory Board
The Getting to Zero Program’s Youth and Young Adult Advisory Board provides opportunities for Santa Clara County high school students to be involved in Getting to Zero program planning and to gain professional experience and knowledge in topics related to STI and HIV prevention and education. PrEP and PEP Access Committee
This committee discusses academic detailing opportunities for service providers in Santa Clara County, specifically about the provision of pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP) and post-exposure prophylaxis (PEP). The committee also discusses opportunities for community outreach, health education, and best practices to increase PrEP and PEP access throughout the community. 

Stigma Reduction Committee
This committee works to help reduce prejudice and discrimination against people living with HIV and communities disproportionately impacted by HIV. This includes using stigma research to inform the design and implementation of community outreach materials and identification of best practices to launch effective social marketing campaigns. 

HIV and Aging Committee
The HIV and Aging Program committee aims to assess community needs, collaboratively plan our HIV and Aging program, and to provide overall guidance in program development and operations The HIV and Aging program is a program that provides clinical and non-clinical services to anyone who is living or working in Santa Clara County, diagnosed with HIV and is at least 50 years of age.
